As Germany prepares for the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Dennis Schroder is set to be a crucial player in their quest for success.
However, there’s a hitch β the 29-year-old guard is dealing with lingering effects from an Achilles injury suffered during the club season’s end.
“I had Achilles tendon problems at the end of the season and then all the time in the offseason,” Schroder told the German media on Tuesday.
Despite the fact, the player thinks he’s on the right track to being fully ready for the World Cup. “I’ve had it treated, and I’m trying to get back to 100 percent. This is our eighth training session and one game,” he said about the process. “Everyone’s getting ready. It’s looking very good.”
While Dennis Schroder fitness is a concern, Coach Gordon Herbert emphasizes his leadership as pivotal for the team. Despite the injury, SchrΓΆder’s impact remains essential, and his performance will be closely watched as Germany aims high in the upcoming tournament.
“He’s in good shape, but he’s not in top basketball shape yet,” he said. “we still have time. We work on it every day. We have to work hard in training, but we also need days to recover.”
“He is our captain, our leader. He takes a lot of pride in being our captain. He did an excellent job,” Herbert concluded.
