As the Milwaukee Bucks prepare for contract negotiations this offseason, one player on their radar is veteran forward Danilo Gallinari, who joined them mid-season after being waived by the Detroit Pistons.
Despite his brief tenure in Milwaukee, where he didn’t establish himself as a key player, Gallinari’s future with the team remains uncertain. However, the Denver Nuggets could pose a challenge if the Bucks aim to extend his contract.
Denver holds a special place in Gallinari’s career, as it was where he blossomed into a potent offensive threat during his six-year stint. He boasted averages of 16.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 three-pointers per game with the Nuggets, making significant contributions to their offense.
While Gallinari may not be the nightly scoring threat he once was, there’s still plenty of talent left in him. Fran Leiva of Fadeaway World suggests that Gallinari could be a valuable addition to the Nuggets in NBA Free Agency:
“First, they will need his three-point shooting. Aaron Gordon will be committing more on defense and more of his scoring will be from the post. Gallinari will make sure that the Denver opponent offense would not collapse on Jokic in the post or on Murray on the drive.
Also, offensively, Gallinari is very versatile, he can play from the power forward to the small forward position. That gives Coach Michael Malone some flexibility in lining up his teams, he could be used in small-ball lineups as a stretch four or playing with Jokic and Gordon to form a formidable frontcourt with shooting ability,” Leiva wrote.
Leiva highlights that Gallinari, at the veteran’s minimum, would offer the Nuggets an affordable opportunity to enhance their shooting prowess around their core stars—an advantage that could also benefit the Bucks.
