Derrick White, the Boston Celtics player, is close to extending his contract with the team, reports Marc Stein.
Derrick White has been one of the most crucial pieces in Joe Mazzulla’s team this season in their quest for the NBA title.
“Derrick White is regarded as a near-certain recipient of a contract extension this offseason, which would mean all five of Boston’s best players will possess contracts awarded over the past year (and change),” Stein noted in his latest column.
Currently, White has one year left on his contract, which will see him earn $20,071,429.
White’s impressive performance has earned him a spot on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team for the second consecutive year. This past season, he averaged 15.2 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Let’s recall that White joined the Celtics from the San Antonio Spurs, where he played from 2017 to 2022.
