Dimitris Itoudis shared his initial impressions and thoughts after one of the EuroLeague derbies in which Fenerbahce faced Barcelona.
Fenerbahce suffered their seventh defeat of the season, continuing their struggles in the elite competition. In the last five games, they have only won once, and this time Barcelona emerged victorious with a score of 89:81.
The Turkish team had everything in their hands, controlling the game throughout the first half, which earned them a 12-point lead that they squandered later on. Their three-point shooting was impeccable at the start of the game, but Barcelona found ways to counteract. Fenerbahce cannot say the same for what Willy Hernangomez did, as he dominated in the paint with 21 points and nine rebounds.
“The game became significantly tougher in the second half. They played much more aggressively, forcing us into poor shots. We stayed in the game until the very end, but our creativity in attack and solutions were not at the required level. Additionally, they scored 51 points in the second half, which ultimately cost us the win. Congratulations to them on the triumph,” said Dimitris Itoudis.
In the next round of the elite competition, Fenerbahce will host Monaco on their home court. After 13 games played, they are currently at a 6-7 record.
