Dimitris Itoudis, the head coach of Fenerbahce, spoke to the media ahead of the match against Maccabi Tel Aviv in Belgrade.
Both teams are coming into this game after defeats. The Turkish team suffered one of the toughest losses during the tenure of the Greek coach. Crvena Zvezda outplayed them in every aspect of the game, as evidenced by the 87-56 score. On the other hand, Olympiacos triumphed against the ‘Pride of Israel’ with a score of 79-74.
After the game against the Belgrade team, Fenerbahce did not leave Belgrade, as they will play their third EuroLeague game in the Serbian capital this season. In the previous two occasions, they left the court as the losing team, and now they face Maccabi Tel Aviv at the ‘Aleksandar Nikolic’ hall.
“It’s an uncomfortable game for us. We need to show improvement immediately. We had a very poor performance against Crvena Zvezda. The way we need to play is to fight for the full 40 minutes. That is our guiding star and pride,” said Dimitris Itoudis.
Nigel Hayes-Davis, one of the standout performers for the Turkish team so far this season, added to his coach’s words:
“Maccabi Tel Aviv is an extremely tough opponent. We know they are a good team. Our approach from the first moment has to be as if this is the EuroLeague final. That’s the only way to steer our ship back to the winning harbor. We know the quality we possess, and we have to return to our recognizable style of play.”
