Domantas Sabonis will not be available for Lithuania’s head coach Kazys Maksvytis in the upcoming friendly game against Slovenia.
According to Lithuanian media, the Sacramento Kings center has temporarily left the national team, a fact confirmed by the coaching staff.
“Domantas Sabonis has left the team for a few days due to personal reasons. He has been working very well and fits in fantastically, but we cannot count on him until he returns,” said Kazys Maksvytis.
Domantas Sabonis has had an impressive NBA season, averaging 19.4 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 8.2 assists over 82 regular-season games.
As part of their preparations for the Olympic qualifying tournament, Lithuania will play two games against Slovenia, with the first game scheduled for today and the next one on Tuesday. In the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico from July 2 to 7, Lithuania will face Ivory Coast and Mexico in Group A. Group B includes Italy, Puerto Rico, and Bahrain.
