Draymond Green has defended the Los Angeles Lakers selection of Bronny James who they picked him at number 55 in the Draft.
In a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the four-time NBA Champion backed the young player to prove himself as a rotation player in the NBA within two years.
“I am just gonna take the bet that this kid works hard, which he does. He has LeBron James DNA and I am gonna take the bet on that … and then you watch him play, he is a good basketball player. Imma take that bet because you got him at 55, so if he even becomes a rotational player, you did great, and I think he could possibly become a rotational player in the next two years,” said Draymond Green.
Nevertheless, Bronny James will face significant pressure from the media. His performances and Redick’s handling of the situation will be scrutinized. The Lakers must balance developing the young talent with shielding him from the never-ending media merry-go-round.
Green’s comments were clearly made to uplift and protect him. He will understand the level of scrutiny the young talent is receiving. But he is likely used to this type of spotlight. It comes with being the son of arguably one of the best players in NBA history.
Still, if Bronny James can prove himself as an NBA rotation player and carve out a long career in the league, the Lakers will be applauded for finding success with a late-round draft pick.
