American basketball player Dwight Howard won’t be joining the Golden State Warriors after all, as reported by The Athletic.
Howard has spent the recent period in Taiwan, where he hasn’t played serious basketball. It seems he has decided to change his environment, but that won’t happen so easily. The San Francisco team has decided not to sign any veteran centers ahead of their training camp.
The Athletic reports that the NBA champion with the Lakers recently visited Golden State for two days, including meetings and workouts to allow Steve Kerr’s coaching staff to evaluate the situation.

In this regard, Dwight Howard met with Chris Paul and Draymond Green, but an agreement was not reached. Nevertheless, the Warriors have left open the possibility of signing someone after the training camp or during the regular season.
Regardless, the American center will explore all available options in the coming week to make a return to the league.
The 37-year-old player was last part of the NBA in the 2021/22 season when he played for the Lakers, averaging 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Howard is a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Due to his reputation and past achievements, teams are willing to give him a chance to convince them that there is still some quality left in his game.
