After it was revealed that he was playing with an injured left hand, Bojan Bogdanovic suffered another setback, severely injuring his ankle.
Bojan Bogdanovic definitely won’t remember this season fondly. Despite playing brilliantly for the Detroit Pistons, where he averaged 20 points while shooting 40% from three-point range, the team held the worst record among all 30 teams in the league. They even managed to break the record for the most consecutive losses with 28 in a row.
A glimmer of hope appeared when a trade happened in February, sending him to the New York Knicks, a team contending for the top spot in the East. However, despite many injured players at the time of his arrival, he simply received sporadic minutes under Tom Thibodeau.
The worst possible news for Bojan Bogdanovic
After a slower start with the Knicks, Bogdanovic began solidly in this NBA playoff. The Knicks were on the verge of advancing in the series against the 76ers, and then came the worst possible news for Bojan Bogdanovic.
Bogdanovic suffered a serious ankle injury during the Game 4 of the New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers series in Philadelphia, in a duel with Nicolas Batum. Although Bogdanovic managed to leave the court on his own, he did not return to the game and instead waited for his team in the locker room.
Upon returning to New York, after undergoing an MRI, it was determined that Bogdanovic’s ankle was seriously injured and that he would need surgery, which is already scheduled for Wednesday.
Having previously struggled with issues in his left hand, barely playing in the last few games and enduring significant pain, Bogdanovic knew that after the season he would require surgery on his hand. Now, it’s quite certain that the Knicks small forward will have to undergo not just one, but two surgeries: first on his ankle, and then, in a couple of weeks, on his hand.
The series now stands at 3-1, with the next game scheduled fot tonight (hosted by the Knicks).
