Erik Spoelstra, Miami Heat head coach, spoke to the media after his team was defeated in the first round of the NBA Eastern Conference by the Boston Celtics.
The Boston Celtics relatively easily defeated the Miami Heat 4-1. A significant problem for the Heat in this series was that Erik Spoelstra couldn’t count on his best player, Jimmy Butler. Along with him, they also didn’t have Terry Rozier available.
“You have to credit Boston. They took control of this game. You could sense that they wanted this to end right now, tonight, and not let this thing get back to Miami. That’s the sign of a mature team,” said Erik Spoelstra after the loss in Game 5 and then continued:
“We’re not going to put this on the fact that we’ve had some injuries. Let’s not take anything away from Boston Celtics. They’ve been the best team in basketball all season long, and in this series in four of the games. They played as such.”
