Real Madrid defeated the Dallas Mavericks 127-123 in an exhibition game between the NBA and Euroleague teams played in the Spanish capital.
After some time, the NBA and Euroleague teams clashed, and the spectacle in Madrid was further enhanced by the return of Luka Doncic to the place from which he left for the United States. Although the Slovenian played for just under five minutes, he reminded everyone of his class during that time. The Madrid crowd couldn’t help but be impressed by their favorite player, who scored nine points in that short period.
Doncic did not return to the game, but that didn’t stop the Mavericks from looking formidable even without him. This also applied to former Partizan player Dante Exum, who shone in the game. He delivered blocks to Dzanan Musa, was accurate from long range, and left a very good overall impression.
Real Madrid made a comeback in the end
It seemed that Dallas was very close to victory. They held a double-digit lead for most of the game, but in the closing minutes, Real Madrid, led by Facundo Campazzo and Guerschon Yabusele, closed the gap to just two points, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Campazzo continued to make outstanding drives, showing how an NBA team with an 11-point deficit could be reached in rhythm. After one such layup, Real led by two points with one minute left. Campazzo didn’t stop there; he made two more free throws and then sealed the game with a three-pointer, capping a masterful performance.
The diminutive Argentine guard was the key player in Real Madrid’s victory over the NBA team. He nearly flirted with a triple-double, scoring 20 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out eight assists. Sergio Llull and Vincent Poirier also contributed 19 points each for Real, with Poirier adding five blocks.
On the other side, Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 21 points, while Dante Exum, Dwight Powell, and Seth Curry added 13 points each.
