Fenerbahce defeated MBA Moscow 94-79 in the VTB Super Cup preparation match, with Yam Madar scoring nine points.
The first quarter didn’t go as the Turkish club had hoped. After the initial 10 minutes, Fenerbahce was trailing by five points, and at that moment, the Moscow team was playing well. The second quarter hinted at a significant change. In that period, Dimitris Itoudis’ team scored 27 points, effectively entering the game offensively.
However, even such an offensive performance was not enough to go into halftime with a lead, so the outcome of the game was determined in the second half.
In the third quarter, Itoudis’ team scored the same number of points, but the defense was at a higher level. Fenerbahce only conceded 14 points, giving them a 13-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
The ‘Yellow Canaries’ maintained their lead until the end and secured an easy victory in this match. The top performers were Johnathan Motley with 21 points and Sertac Sanli with 18 points. The excellent performance of the center position is also evident with Georgios Papagiannis contributing 16 points.
Former Partizan player, Yam Madar, finished with nine points in 18 minutes. He also managed to dish out four assists and shot 4/5 from the field.
Daniil Kasatkin led the losing team with 15 points.
This was the first time Itoudis returned to Moscow since signing with Fenerbahce in 2022. The Greek coach had previously coached CSKA.
Fenerbahce’s international season begins on October 6th against Milan in the EuroLeague.
