Fenerbahce defeated Buyukcekmece by 92:90 in the last round of the Turkish Super League, leaving their rival without a spot in the play-in.
The game was incredibly exciting from start to finish, as indicated by the numerous lead changes between the two teams. The difference never exceeded “two possessions” until the end of the match when the visitors gained a significant seven-point lead (87:80). It seemed that Buyukcekmece would celebrate in the Ulker Arena and secure a spot in the playoffs, but then came a series of 11:2 from the home team, which extinguished the hopes of their rivals for the eighth position with just seven seconds left.
Nate Sestina was the top scorer for Fenerbahce with 23 points, while on the other side, Marcquise Reed shone with 24 points.
Fenerbahce will enter the playoffs as the second in the table (with the same score as Anadolu Efes but with worse head-to-head), while Buyukcekmece finished the season in 10th place with 13 wins and 17 losses.
