Fenerbahce secured their tenth win of the season in the Turkish Super League’s 13th round by defeating Darussafaka. The team, led by Lithuanian coach Sarunas Jasikevicius, triumphed with a highly convincing score of 98:56.
The standout performance of the game came from Tarik Biberovic, who already had 18 points in the first half. By the end of the match, he set a new personal career record with 29 points, shooting 10/13 from the field.
At the very start of the game, Fenerbahce was strongly motivated to justify its role as the favorite and quickly gained a double-digit lead of 16:4. As time passed, their advantage continued to grow. After the initial ten minutes of play, Fenerbahce led 29:14.
Impressively, Tarik Biberovic played a key role in the continuation of the match. The player from Sarunas Jasikevicius’ team had already scored 18 points in the first half, and Yam Madar was a significant factor in increasing the lead further. At one point, the score was 44:16, and at halftime, the scoreboard showed 51:29 in favor of Fenerbahce.
If there were any doubts, they were dispelled at the beginning of the third quarter when Fenerbahce, with a 12:4 run – all points scored by Biberovic (7) and Marko Guduric (5) – reached an enormous lead of 30 points (63:33). This game quickly earned the reputation of a one-way street, so the only thing in question was the final result by which Fenerbahce would celebrate their tenth victory of the season.
The standout performer in the winning team was the aforementioned Biberovic, scoring 29 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Yam Madar contributed with 14 points, Georgios Papagiannis recorded a double-double with 12 points and an equal number of rebounds, while Marko Guduric finished with 10 points. In the defeated team, Can Korkmaz led with 14 points.
Under coach Jasikevicius, the team now holds a 10-3 record in the domestic championship, while Darussafaka is struggling with this being their fifth consecutive loss, placing them at a 6-7 record.
In the next round of the Turkish Super League, Fenerbahce will host Bursaspor. Before that, they will face a tough EuroLeague showdown away against Anadolu Efes. Darussafaka, on the other hand, will continue in the Turkish championship against Anadolu Efes as well.
