Fenerbahce was defeated by Turk Telekom on the road by 95:91 in the 27th round of the Turkish Super League.
This marked the fourth consecutive loss for Sarunas Jasikevicius‘ team, as prior to this game, Fenerbahce had suffered two losses to Anadolu Efes at home, and last week they were defeated by Olympiacos in Piraeus in the EuroLeague.
Looking at the course of this game, it’s clear that Turk Telekom deservedly emerged victorious. Fenerbahce took an early lead with 7:0, but the home team responded immediately and managed to equalize the score by the end of the first quarter. After that, Selcuk Ernak’s team took the lead and never relinquished it until the end of the game. In the final quarter, Fenerbahce trailed by as much as 14 points, and although they managed to reduce the deficit by the end, it wasn’t enough to avoid this loss.
Tyrone Wallace with 22 points and James Palmer with 21 points were the standout performers for Turk Telekom, as usual. In Fenerbahce, Tarik Biberovic led with 23 points, while former Partizan player, Yam Madar, scored 20 points.
With this defeat, Fenerbahce further distanced themselves from the top spot in the Turkish Super League, as they now stand at 21-5, with two more losses than Anadolu Efes. Turk Telekom secured a crucial win in the playoff race, now tied for eighth place with a record of 12-15.
In the day’s other game, Petkim Spor defeated Darussafaka on the road by 83:72. Peyton Aldridge led them to win with 23 points, while David Efianayi contributed 20. Muhsin Yasar was the top scorer for Darussafaka with 18 points.
