Filip Petrusev talked about the wildfires in Greece when he was on vacation, a game versus Hellas and about his first NBA contract.
In an interview with “Sportal”, the Serbian basketball player spoke at the very beginning about the fires in the territory of Greece where he and his girlfriend found themselves during their vacation. Fortunately for everyone, it passed without consequences. Serbia played the first official match as part of the preparations against “Hellas”.
“We survived, that’s the most important. It was tricky, we swallowed a bit of smoke. We walked with our suitcases on the beach for two hours, it was maybe the strongest training I’ve ever done in my life” – he admitted and contiued:
“I have to admit that it wasn’t easy at all. Nothing was well organized. We pulled through, and that’s the most important thing.”
Serbia won Greece by 71:64. Stefan Jovic did not play in Svetislav Pesic team and Kostas Papanikoloau was not in the roster of Greece.
“The Greeks had two stronger games before our game, but when we look at their roster and ours, I think we have a better team. Also I think we are better as a team. It’s still early. From game to game, we are playing better and I think we were okay. As far as the things the coach asks of us. There is a lot of room for improvement both in attack and in defense, and in rebounding, but I think it was okay.”
Earlier in July, Petrusev participated in the NBA Summer League. In the end, he received a contract to play in the NBA, realizing a big dream.
“I went to America for the third time for the Summer League. I have to admit that it is a specific type of basketball. It somehow serves players who don’t have a club. I already had something agreed. I went more to meet the coaching staff and coaches and to get used to that style of play” – said Filip Petrusev.
