Filip Petrusev, a player for Olympiacos, spoke to the media after his team’s loss to Barcelona in Pireus by 80:82.
Olympiacos missed a great opportunity. They had a chance to finish the EuroLeague series in front of their fans but lost the victory in the first duel. To make matters worse, the game was lost after Filip Petrusev fouled Jabari Parker 10 meters from the basket with just 0.5 seconds remaining.
Parker made the first two free throws, intentionally missed the third, and Barcelona won the match. The Serbian player was visibly disappointed with the outcome.
“It’s hard to talk about… They also wanted to win. Jabari Parker clearly wanted contact, he provoked the contact. It’s a foul that could be called during the game but not at the end of the match. That’s not how it’s done.
We had a chance to finish the game in regular time. We need to be more focused in the closing moments of games. It’s unacceptable not to finish such an important game. It’s also my fault that we lost.
Another tough game awaits us. We need to be better in every aspect. The end of the season is near. Everyone wants to reach the Final Four. I need to be better as well. Some of my decisions, especially at the end of the game, were not good“, Filip Petrusev said.
