Maccabi Tel Aviv will soon play a game in Israel (national championship), but it will be without foreign players.
Oded Kattash is expected to field John DiBartolomeo, Rafi Menco, Roman Sorkin, Jake Cohen, Omer Mayer, and Tamir Blatt against Hapoel Haifa. In addition to these players, there may also be several junior players in the lineup.
One of the reasons cited for this decision by foreign players is that they have not received assurances about compensating for the salary reduction (due to the conflict in Israel). Unofficial reports indicate that the “Pride of Israel” players currently have their salaries reduced by 15%, with the explanation being the wartime conditions preventing the club from paying the full amount (compensation is expected at some point).
Maccabi Tel Aviv is currently sixth in the EuroLeague standings with a record of nine wins and seven losses, while in the Israeli league, they have a record of 1-0.
The “Pride of Israel” will play matches against Hapoel Haifa and Hapoel Be’er Sheva, after which they will return to EuroLeague commitments with a matchup against Zalgiris.
