The French national basketball team is facing another setback as they prepare for the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup.
The French Basketball Federation has announced that Frank Ntilikina will not be able to participate in the tournament.
Ntilikina, a 25-year-old guard, sustained a hamstring injury during a friendly game against Lithuania last Friday. Following subsequent tests, it was confirmed that Ntilikina’s recovery would not be sufficient for him to be ready in time for the World Cup.

The injury occurred as Ntilikina was advancing the ball up the court with just 3 minutes and 18 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Following a successful defensive play, Ntilikina experienced discomfort on the court and had to leave the game.
The replacement for Ntilikina has not yet been announced.
In a prior blow during the preparation period, France also lost Mathias Lessort to an injury.
