Galatasaray defeated Besiktas on away court by 77:76 in the 28th round of the Turkish Super League, securing their 14th win.
Although Dusan Alimpijevic’s team started the game better and took a 20:12 lead, it didn’t scare the visiting players. By the end of the first quarter, Galatasaray had closed the gap to just two points, and after the first 20 minutes of play, they led 40:35.
Yakup Sekizkok’s players controlled the score until the very end when they made a series of mistakes that gave Besiktas a chance to come back into the game. They had the ball with six seconds left, but Derek Needham missed a tough shot for the win.
The guests were led to win by Dee Bost with 18 points, while Goksenin Koksal also scored some crucial points, finishing with 13 points. In Dusan Alimpijevic’s team, the best performer was Kyle Allman with 16 points, while Derek Needham and Jonah Mathews each had 15 points.
This is Besiktas’s fourth consecutive loss in all competitions and their third in the Turkish Super League. Pinar Karsiyaka took advantage of this poor streak of the Istanbul team, and they now have the same record as Besiktas, sharing the third position. On the other hand, Galatasaray is tied for sixth place with Petkim Spor.
In the next round, Besiktas will visit Turk Telekom, while Galatasaray will host Samsunspor.
