Georgia head coach Ilias Zouros announces final 12-man roster for FIBA World Cup 2023. Tornike Shengelia, Goga Bitadze lead the roster.
Georgia has finalized its roster for the FIBA World Cup 2023. Georgia’s charge will be spearheaded by Tornike Shengelia and Giorgi Shermadini, two of the best to ever wear the national team jersey.
Both have been leading players in Europe in recent times. Shermadini was named Player of the Year in the ACB League this season after a superb performance for Lenovo Tenerife. Last four seasons he spent in this club. In that span, he averages 16.1 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Shengelia did, from 2012-14, have a spell in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls but is best known for being a star with Baskonia, CSKA Moscow, and Virtus Bologna. In the last couple of seasons, he had huge problems with injury, but still, he is one of the best power forward in the EuroLeague.
In addition to these two guys, the team will also feature the experience of veteran guard Duda Sanadze, the NBA talent of Goga Bitadze and Sandro Mamukelashvili, and the skilled point guards Thaddus McFadden and Rati Andronikashvili.

The FIBA World Cup will be played from August 25th to September 10th in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan. Georgia will play in group F, with Slovenia, Cape Verde and Venezuela.
