Georgios Bartzokas, the head coach of Olympiacos, spoke before the duel against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the eighth round of the EuroLeague.
An unusual situation for all teams in the EuroLeague. Maccabi, due to problems in their country, plays their matches in Belgrade, and that’s without the presence of fans. The atmosphere is specific, so it’s a question of how the Israelis, as well as the opponents, will adapt to these conditions. Georgios Bartzokas is aware of this, emphasizing that such games are always unusual and challenging to play.
“We must play a very difficult game, in a neutral gym. Maccabi has been practicing there and has been playing without their fans and these games are always particular, because you don’t know what you’re going to be against.
I hope we have the motivation we need, because we are at a turning point with the EuroLeague, when players are gradually recovering or we expect them to recover from injuries. Every win is important to us.”
