Georgios Bartzokas, the coach of Olympiacos, spoke after the second-round EuroLeague game, which his team played at home against Barcelona.
After a victory in the first round over Panathinaikos in overtime, they experienced a home defeat to Barcelona. Bartzokas’ team had a five-point lead in the final minutes, with the momentum on their side. However, everything turned around as the guests, especially Alex Abrines, hit two three-pointers, and they managed to turn the game in their favor.
The home team played without Luke Sikma, Shaq McKissic, and Nigel Williams-Goss.
“We were tired. We didn’t have a deep bench. Our players like Thomas Walkup played a lot and were tired. We had a six-point lead and controlled everything, but we didn’t manage to finish the game, we gave them a chance, and they used it,” said Olympiacos coach Georgios Bartzokas, who used nine players in the match against Barcelona.
Thomas Walkup played more than 35 minutes, Alec Peters spent over 33 minutes on the court. On the other side, Nicolas Laprovittola spent the most minutes on the court, 28.
Olympiacos will face Milano in the next round, while Barcelona will play against Partizan in Belgrade.
