Germany defeated Georgia in the first match of Group K at the FIBA World Cup with a score of 100:73 and thus they came within a step of the quarterfinals.
The first half was characterized by fast play and a lot of three-point shots. Isaac Bonga was fouled in the first quarter because he missed a clean layup on the counterattack. Also, in the second part, the judges gave the Germans two technical fouls due to flopping situations.
In the second half, the shooting rhapsody of the Germans was seen. Maodo Lo led the way there as all 18 of his points came from three-point shooting. The Germans scored as many as 60 points out of a total of 100 three-pointers. A calm game marked the second half and of course a fantastic shot outside the line 6.75.
The best individual in the ranks of coach Gordon Herbert was Maodo Lo, who scored 18 points, followed by Dennis Schroder with 16 points and seven assists. Among the losers, Sandro Mamukelashvili led the way, having the most points in the match. He scored 19 points.
Georgia dropped out of the championship, while the calculation for Germany is as follows. If Australia beats Slovenia, the loser of the Slovenia-Germany match is eliminated from the competition, a round would be made where all teams would have a score of 4:1.
