Gianmarco Pozzecco, now former head coach of Asvel, responded to criticisms from the club’s president, Tony Parker.
Initially, Asvel started the season with T.J. Parker, the brother of the celebrated NBA star, as the head coach. Then, Gianmarco Pozzecco took over, but the Italian didn’t stay long. The third head coach in the current season is Pierric Poupet.
“I think he gave up. He became increasingly negative, it was difficult to motivate the players, and we no longer believed in him. Because of him, Nando De Colo got injured, he burdened him too much. I am very disappointed in him,” said Tony Parker after ending the collaboration.
Now that some time has passed, Italian coach Gianmarco Pozzecco has also responded:
“There’s no point in hiding, the suffering was unprecedented. I always behave the same way; no one can influence me. I was born on the basketball court with all kinds of teammates; it never occurred to me to blame someone else for a situation I found myself in. Whatever happens, positive or negative, it has always lifted me up.”
In the end, it will turn out that Pozzecco really didn’t have the opportunity because with the new coach change, the results didn’t improve. Asvel, along with Alba, still occupies the last place in the EuroLeague. In the Leaders Cup of France, they were eliminated in the quarterfinals, while in the French league, Monaco already has a significant lead.
