Dimitris Giannakopoulos shocks basketball community with claims of Greek coaching-player duo moving to Olympiacos.
The owner of Panathinaikos has stated that this is the reason why Georgios Bartzokas was not supported in the summer transfer window and that Dimitris Itoudis and Giorgos Papagiannis are on the verge of joining their rivals.
“To be honest, they didn’t support Bartzokas much this year during the summer transfer window. I will always voice my opinion, and I believe this was done intentionally. According to my sources, there is an agreement with Itoudis and with the tall one (Giorgos Papagiannis). I can bet ten euros that it will happen in January-February” – Giannakopoulos said in his characteristic style.”
The controversial Giannakopoulos has decided to open his wallet this summer and significantly strengthen the Athens-based club. He first appointed Ergin Ataman as the head coach, and then the reinforcements kept coming. Luca Vildoza, Mathias Lessort, Kostas Sloukas are just a few of the names Panathinaikos brought in this summer.
The goal is to dethrone Olympiacos from the throne of Greek basketball, and they will have their first opportunity to do so in the opening round of the EuroLeague. They will face the Reds at the OAKA Arena on October 6th, with the game scheduled to tip off at 8:15 PM.
