Golden State Warriors are working on assembling the pieces for the upcoming season. Usman Garuba has joined Steve Kerr’s team.
Golden State is looking to improve on last season’s performance. The Warriors were eliminated in the Western Conference semifinals by the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, Kerr’s team aims to achieve even greater success.
As reported by Shams Charania, the Golden State Warriors are working tirelessly to bring in new players. They have signed Usman Garuba to a two-way contract, and they are also considering the option of acquiring Dwight Howard.
Usman Garuba began his career at Real Madrid. Afterward, he ventured into the NBA, attempting to secure a spot with the Houston Rockets. He also spent some time in the G-League. However, he didn’t manage to make a significant impact.
At the recently concluded FIBA World Cup, Garuba averaged 8.2 points and four rebounds. The Warriors have decided to give him a chance and he will aim to compete for playing time.
As for Dwight Howard, the Warriors have not signed a contract with him yet. Steve Kerr is interested in bringing in an experienced center to add toughness in the paint and provide a solid backup option. The two parties have not yet reached an agreement, but there is a possibility that it may happen.
Howard, notably, won a championship with the Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout his career, he played for several teams. He delivered some of his best performances while with the Orlando Magic, and he also played for Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Charlotte.
