Gran Canaria and Zaragoza secured comfortable victories in Saturday’s matches in the seventh round of the Spanish Endesa League.
Gran Canaria won 87-80 at home against Obradoiro, earning their second victory of the season. The home team played excellently for three quarters and held a 78-62 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
This advantage proved sufficient for the win, even though the visiting team hinted that they could make a comeback. However, there was little time left, and the points remained with the home team.
Nicolas Brussino was the top scorer for the home team with 19 points, Ben Lammers added 13, and Polish national team player AJ Slaughter contributed 12 points.
In the visiting team, Artem Pustovyi and Roko Badzim each scored 18 points, while Thomas Scrubb finished the game with 13 points.
Zaragoza, like Gran Canaria, was ruthless on their home court, defeating Joventut by a massive 30-point margin with a final score of 113-83.
The home team had an excellent offensive performance, scoring 55 points in the first half. In the third quarter, the visiting team joined in, and after this period, Zaragoza held a 91-61 lead, with the third quarter ending 36-29.
Zaragoza comfortably preserved their lead for the remainder of the game and secured their second victory of the season.
Santiago Yusta was the top scorer with 23 points, Obi Emegano contributed 17, Trae Bell-Haynes scored 16, Jahlil Okafor added 13 points, and Emir Sulejmanovic had 10. On the other side, Yannick Kraag scored 19 points, and Deshaun Thomas had 13.
