Greece beat Egypt 93:71 in the second round of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Athens.
Although the team of Vassilis Spanoulis did not count on Giannis Antetokounmpo, the biggest star, it was not difficult for them to convincingly overcome a weak rival.
From the first minute, Greece made it known to Egypt that they would not allow any relaxation. All that did not carry over to the second quarter, in which the rival was slightly better, but not enough to pose a serious threat.
In the third quarter, the picture changed completely and Greece regained the double-digit lead with a big rush and entered the last 10 minutes very comfortably. This high advantage did not prevent her from playing well in the last part of the game, so that the host registered a convincing victory at the tournament in Athens.
The most effective players were Georgios Papagiannis with 16 points and Kostas Papanikolaou with 15. The rival was led by Ahmed Metwaliy with 20 points.
Now Greece is playing against Luka Doncic’s Slovenia, who beat New Zealand very convincingly earlier tonight. So we are expecting a very interesting duel between Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Dallas Mavericks star.
