Hamburg was considered a heavy favorite before the game. However, right from the start, it was clear that things wouldn’t go smoothly. Neither team managed to establish a significant lead, and the halftime score was 42:41 in favor of the visiting team.
A similar situation unfolded in the second half. Heidelberg took the lead 64:60 in the third quarter. The home team responded early in the final quarter, taking the lead, but Heidelberg regained control with a 9:2 run, leading 76:72, which they maintained until the end of the game.
Hamburg now holds a record of 13 wins and 13 losses, placing them in ninth position in the Bundesliga. On the other hand, Heidelberg has secured a significant win in the battle for survival, as they now stand at 7-20 and have managed to move out of the relegation zone.
