The ABA League has not rejected the option of Dubai entering the regional competition, according to Basketball Sphere sources.
Today, information appeared that there is a possibility that Dubai will become part of the EuroLeague, not next, but in two seasons, and all because of the decision of the ABA League.
As stated by the SPORT 24, it was decided from the regional competition that there will be no expansion in the next season and that Dubai will not be a member of it.
As participation in the ABA League, the Greek portal stated, is a prerequisite for Dubai’s entry into the EuroLeague, the negative response from the Adriatic ruled out the possibility of the Asian team being promoted as part of the elite European competition next season.
From sources close to the regional competition, that such allegations are not true. For a simple reason – the ABA League still hasn’t even voted on Dubai becoming a part of it.
As a reminder, such a thing requires the unanimous approval of the league’s ownership of 11 clubs – Partizan, Crvena Zvezda, FMP, Mega, Zadar, Cibona, Buducnost, Mornar, Igokea, Krka and Cedevita Olimpija.
