In a conversation with Eurohoops, Greek basketball player Ioannis Papapetrou shared his expectations for the upcoming season, in which he will be playing for Panathinaikos.
The Greek player hopes to open the new season with victories, given that in Athens, a true “dream team” has been assembled.
“We must prepare ourselves to be in the best shape and open the season with a win. The talent and quality are there, this is a completely new team” – emphasizes Ioannis Papapetrou.
With Ergin Ataman taking the reins of the “Green” team, a true reconstruction of the squad has begun. This reconstruction included the acquisitions of Olek Balcerowski, Jerian Grant, Kyle Guy, Juan Hernangomez, Mathias Lessort, Kostas Sloukas and Luca Vildoza.
“The feeling is different than before; we have a very strong team this season. During the summer, some excellent moves were made. Everyone on the team wants a successful season, and we are looking forward to its start”.
Papapetrou played for Partizan in the previous season but decided to return to the Athens-based club after the season concluded.
“The Panathinaikos fans have always loved and supported me, and I love them too. I am happy to be here, to be a part of all this. We will give our all to make them happy”.
During the previous season, the Greek player averaged 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while wearing the black-and-white jersey (EuroLeague).
