Ioannis Papapetrou, a player of Panathinaikos, spoke to the media ahead of the EuroLeague final game against Real Madrid.
The former Partizan player had a good game in his team’s win in the semifinals against Fenerbahce by 73:57. He scored nine points, along with three rebounds and two assists.
“It’s an unreal feeling. I know how hard I’ve worked and how focused I’ve been all along. I’ve said before the final tournament that regardless of the result, I feel good, I’ve worked on myself, and I want to help. Defense, we played with a lot of energy. Kalaitzakis also changed the momentum of the game with incredible energy in defense and a three-pointer in the last second of the third quarter. That moment changed the course of the game. It’s really not easy for someone of his age and without experience in the final tournament to do something like that,” Ioannis Papapetrou began, and then added:
“I didn’t have time to think about the final. Last season, Panathinaikos was 17th, and this year we’re in the EuroLeague final, one game away from a big goal. I don’t know if this has ever happened to any team before; it’s unreal. Now we have to give our all in these last 40 minutes of the season.”
The final gamewill be played on Sunday at 8:00 PM, with Real Madrid as Panathinaikos’s opponent.
