Ioannis Sfairopoulos, coach of Crvena Zvezda, spoke after the game against Alba Berlin in the context of the EuroLeague and the 14th round.
Sfairopoulos broke the team’s poor streak in the elite competition, securing a convincing and secure fifth win with the red and whites.
“We started very focused and followed the plan, which was to control the rhythm. Alba Berlin is a team that runs a lot and scores in transition. On the other hand, we played smartly against their pick and roll defense. The beginning of the second half showed that we dominated, and for that reason, we had a double-digit lead, we controlled the rebounds better in the second half. We earned the win, and we deserved it 100 percent. Thanks to the fans, we are trying to progress, deliver results, and everyone is really working hard for that,” said Sfairopoulos.
“Firstly, when we went into the locker room, we wanted to play better than in the first half. We discussed two or three key aspects both defensively and offensively. While the game is ongoing, players are more focused on playing basketball in a concentrated manner,” commented Sfairopoulos.
“We don’t know if he’ll be ready. We will try to prepare him. We hope he will play. We don’t know how he will move. The plan is for him to be ready for Real Madrid,” said Ioannis Sfairopoulos regarding Adam Hanga.
“Not a complete roster, as we have a small issue with Ilic. Also with Kuzmic. I am satisfied, that is very important.”
“The president and management want to do what is best for the team. If they find someone who makes a difference, they will address it. Otherwise, it won’t happen. We won’t bring in players just for the sake of bringing them in,” concluded Sfairopoulos.
In the next round, Crvena Zvezda will host Real Madrid, while Alba Berlin will face Barcelona.
