Israel Gonzalez, the head coach of Alba Berlin, spoke ahead of the EuroLeague Round 16 game in which his team will face Fenerbahce.
Excitement in Berlin is growing. After a victory against Barcelona away, the team led by the Spanish coach is preparing to host Fenerbahce, and a large number of spectators are expected.
“We are expecting an exciting game in the full and atmospheric Mercedes-Benz Arena! Coach Jasikevicius hasn’t had much time to train with his new team so far. Still, he has adjusted the players’ roles a bit, forcing Fenerbahce to play differently in defense.
As for the offense, most innovations come from actions after timeouts and overall better ball control. After Fenerbahce’s last two wins in the EuroLeague, they are certainly coming to Berlin with some momentum. After our victory against Barcelona, they have definitely been put on notice,” said Israel Gonzalez.
Before this game, Jonas Mattiseck also spoke:
“With the victory against Barcelona behind us, we enter the game on Friday full of confidence. Fenerbahce is very difficult to assess in terms of play, especially with the new coach. That’s why, first and foremost, we focus on ourselves before the match. We want to enter the game with a lot of energy and take control through defense.”
