Israel Gonzalez, the coach of Alba Berlin, spoke about the defeat to Olympiacos in the 17th round of the EuroLeague and highlighted personnel issues.
“We played well in the first half. We didn’t turn the ball over, made shots, and had assists. In the second half, Olympiacos woke up. We didn’t react well to the switches, and we had some turnovers that led to easy points. I would like to see a better reaction in our 5-on-5 defense. Today, it was tough. We couldn’t compete, and the game slipped away historically. We have to understand that the offensive problems we have must be solved with defense. Today, we couldn’t do that.”
“That’s the fault of all of us. We didn’t find good passes. They stole the ball and deflected it when we tried to pass inside, and that’s an aspect we need to work on. We play on Sunday against Chemnitz, who does that for 40 minutes. Thiemann had issues and didn’t train twice, Procida is sick, Lois has problems. To compete with big teams, we need to be complete.”
