As for whether Alba Berlin will play in the EuroLeague next season?
“I’m a coach, and I know who will play in the game on Sunday. As for that, I really don’t know.”
Israel Gonzalez spoke at the press conference after Alba Berlin’s loss to Panathinaikos in the 34th round of the EuroLeague.
With this defeat, Alba Berlin concluded this EuroLeague season with a record of 5-29. They put up a great fight in Athens for 30 minutes, but at the beginning of the fourth quarter, they allowed their opponent to go on a 13-0 run from which they couldn’t recover. In the end, they were defeated by 84:75.
“It’s obvious this isn’t the season we wanted. We knew it would be tough with a lot of young players and newcomers to the EuroLeague. We lost six players compared to the previous season, we had many injuries, and faced numerous challenges throughout the season, but I’m satisfied with the group of people we have. They understand the situation, and it’s up to us to develop and work hard for everything that comes our way.
We have challenges ahead in the Bundesliga where we are currently in a good position. The EuroLeague is a demanding competition, and it’s important that we were able to compete with all those teams at certain moments,” said Israel Gonzalez.
