Ben McLemore, the thirty-year-old American basketball player, has left AEK, as officially confirmed by the club earlier today.
The former University of Kansas standout arrived in Europe in August when he signed a contract with the Athens-based club. With significant NBA experience and having played 571 games in the top basketball league in the world, expectations were high that he would make a difference on the court. However, AEK and Ben McLemore have mutually agreed to terminate their contract much earlier than anticipated.
AEK has secured a place in the FIBA Champions League Top 16 by winning all five played games. Ben McLemore contributed an average of 9.2 points, shooting with a 50% success rate from the field.
In the Greek League, he played seven games, averaging 9.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. The team currently has a 5-5 record after ten rounds. In addition to McLemore, Thomas Kottas has also left the club and will continue his career with Iraklis.
