Jaleen Smith shared his first impressions upon arriving in Belgrade, where he will wear the black and white jersey for the remainder of the season.
The American basketball player emphasized that he has heard nothing but positive things about Belgrade and his new club, expressing his eagerness to quickly adapt to the new environment.
“Everyone has welcomed me warmly, helped me, and talked to me about the best places in the city, restaurants. I’m looking forward to being here. I arrived yesterday, so it will take me a little time to get to know the city, but I’ve heard only the best things.”
Partizan is not unfamiliar to the former Virtus player.
“Everyone talks about the coach, his players are always good. I’ve been following them since they returned to the EuroLeague. You can immediately feel their impact, both in terms of the game and the fans.”
Jaleen Smith emphasizes that Partizan doesn’t need anything more in attack, and he aims to improve the black and white team defensively.
“First and foremost, I can contribute on the defensive end. This team doesn’t need anything more offensively. I can contribute in various ways, but I’ll see where I fit in best to avoid disrupting the team that is currently doing very well.”
The Croatian national team representative also commented on the Partizan fans.
“It will be nice to have such energy behind me, rather than against. It’s tough to play when such a crowd is against you, but when they support you, it gives you extra energy. I will give my all and won’t rest. I’m ready to play; I would love to help on Thursday, but I’ll be ready whenever the opportunity arises.”
Smith is expected to make his debut for Partizan in Bar, where the black and white team will play a game in the ABA League against Mornar.
