The Celtics had long secured the top spot in the NBA Eastern Conference standings before the start of the playoffs. However, they failed to justify this against the Knicks, as they were at one point trailing by as much as 31 points before narrowing the deficit towards the end.
Impressively, Jalen Brunson, who has emerged as a true leader for the New York Knicks, led his team to victory with a performance of 39 points. Donte DiVincenzo contributed 17 points, while the defeated team was led by Jayson Tatum with 18 points.
With their third consecutive win, the New York Knicks are now the third team in the Eastern Conference with a record of 48-32, with two more games left in the regular season. The Boston Celtics remain at the top with 62 wins and 18 losses.
The Sacramento Kings suffered a defeat against the New Orleans Pelicans by 135:123, and this loss came at their home court, further complicating the end of the regular season discussions regarding the Western Conference standings.
CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson led the winning team with 31 points each. Trey Murphy added 27 points, and with their third consecutive victory, the Pelicans are now sixth in the standings (48-32).
