US national team player Jalen Brunson spoke after the semifinal game at the FIBA World Cup against Germany.
Brunson and his team couldn’t secure a spot among the top two teams in the tournament as they were defeated by Germany.
“Congratulations to them. They played well from start to finish. They found a way to stick to their plan and win. Obviously, we weren’t good from the beginning,” Brunson stated.
After this disappointment, the US will face Canada in the battle for the bronze medal. The game is scheduled for tomorrow.
“Tomorrow is a new day; we’ll be ready as soon as we wake up. This is a tough loss. We’ll see tomorrow; it’s tough,” said the New York Knicks player.
This is the second consecutive time that the US national team hasn’t won gold at the World Cup. In the previous World Cup, the US finished seventh, and the last time they won was in 2014 when they defeated Serbia coached by Aleksandar Djordjevic in the final.
Now, Serbia will have a chance to compete for the gold medal after their strong performance against the national team of Canada today.
The clash between “The Eagles” and Germany will take place on Sunday.
