Jason Kidd, Dallas Mavericks head coach, spoke to the media ahead of Game 5 of the NBA Finals, where his team will face the Boston Celtics.
Jason Kidd didn’t mince words following Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Friday night’s matchup at the American Airlines Center was a lopsided affair. The Mavericks overwhelmed the Celtics from the start, leading to a 122:84 rout that kept Dallas in the series and forced a return to TD Garden.
Kidd, known for his straightforward commentary throughout the series, recognized early on that the Celtics lacked the intensity his team brought to Game 4.
“Our group was ready to go. They were ready to celebrate. Understand, we made a stand. We were desperate. We got to continue to keep playing that way, understand they’re trying to find a way to close the door. The hardest thing in this league is to close the door when you have a group that has nothing to lose. Tonight you saw that. They let go of the rope pretty early,” Kidd told reporters, according to MassLive.
The Celtics will get another shot at closing out the series Monday night when they face Luka Doncic and the Mavericks for Game 5 in Boston.
Game 5 will be played on the night between Monday and Tuesday, starting at 2:30 AM, with the Boston Celtics hosting as they lead the series 3-1.
