After a seven-year journey marked by highs and lows since his draft by the franchise, Jayson Tatum finally savored the taste of win as the Boston Celtics clinched their first championship since 2008.
Reflecting on the momentous achievement, Tatum expressed his overwhelming emotions, stating, “It is a real feeling. It still hasn’t really kicked in yet. I’m just trying to enjoy the moment.”
The road to glory was not without its challenges, as Tatum recounted, “These last seven years have been a rollercoaster. Up and down. I had to listen to all the s— people said about me. Tonight it was worth it.”
In the title-clinching game, the Celtics’ star delivered a stellar performance, notching 31 points and 11 assists. Amidst the jubilant celebrations, Tatum shared a poignant exchange with his son, Deuce.
“He told me that I was the best in the world. And I said, ‘You damn right, I am,'” Tatum recounted with a smile, encapsulating the triumphant spirit of a hard-fought win.
