Jimmy Butler, the Miami Heat player, explained his comment about how “22 would look good in purple and gold.”
Jimmy Butler’s comments during the Dallas Wings vs. Los Angeles Sparks game on Friday night caused a stir, especially among Los Angeles Lakers fans. As Jimmy Butler negotiates a contract extension with the Miami Heat, his future remains uncertain. His remarks during the game, however, garnered significant attention.
Given that 22 is Butler’s number with the Heat, and with rumors swirling about a possible trade if the Heat don’t offer him the max contract extension he’s seeking, these comments raised eyebrows.
However, Butler swiftly clarified his statement after the game through a post on the Sparks’ Instagram page. He explained that he was referring to Sparks rookie Cameron Brink, not himself, and dismissed the trade rumors.
“First and foremost, y’all see this shirt/jersey I’m wearing right now. 22 purple and gold says Brink, not Butler, unfortunately. Sorry LA fans. But hey, shoutout to you, Cam. Thank you for all the love and support,” Jimmy Butler said.
