Joel Embiid played a fantastic game in the Philadelphia 76ers’ win against the New York Knicks(125:114) in the Game 3 of the NBA playoff series.
The 76ers didn’t shine in the first two matches. The loss in the second game surely significantly disrupted the team, considering they had everything in their hands. While many thought that defeat confirmed a routine end to the series in favor of the New York Knicks, Joel Embiid and company didn’t give up.
From the first quarter, we saw their significantly more aggressive basketball. They played excellently on both ends, especially defensively. The New York Knicks couldn’t build a substantial lead, and they went into halftime with just a three-point advantage.
In the third quarter, we witnessed an incredible run by the home team. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey were more than motivated, and during this period, the 76ers scored 43 points while allowing only 27 to the opponents. The outstanding center had scored 35 points by that moment, shooting an incredible 12 out of 17 during that time. An impressive stat is that Embiid and Maxey combined for 48 out of the last 63 points scored by the Philadelphia 76ers.
In the final quarter, we saw the home team smoothly closing out the game. The visitors managed to reduce the deficit to single digits at one point, but that was all they could do in this game.
Embiid ended up counting up to 50, setting a career-high record for playoff games. Maxey contributed 25 points, and Kelly Oubre Jr. played an excellent role with 15 points. On the other side, Jalen Brunson scored 39 points with 13 assists. Josh Hart added 20 points, and OG Anunoby scored 17.
The fourth game will be played on Sunday at 7 p.m.
