John Holland, Hapoel Tel Aviv basketball player and former member of Crvena zvezda, spoke out about the situation in Israel that unfolded during Saturday.
John Holland and Crvena zvezda parted ways during the summer. He sought his fortune in Israel, where he signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv. After the attacks that occurred on Saturday, the Puerto Rican player expressed his thoughts via his Instagram profile.
“I am currently in Israel, bombings have started, and it’s quite crazy. There were warnings throughout the day, and when you look at the streets, they are quite empty. You can hear and feel the bombs, it’s quite eerie.”
Holland had a similar experience when he played for Unics.
“This is the second war I’ve experienced. When I played for Unics, there was Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, it was different. You feel some things, like the ruble dropping, but you don’t feel the bombs like we do now.”
The future of basketball in Israel is uncertain.
“If nothing else, we had an ‘interesting’ day. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. I don’t believe we’ll have practice, but I don’t know what will happen next. I wanted to say all this just in case. Anything can happen, that’s life,” Holland said.
