Jonas Valanciunas shared his thoughts after Lithuania’s loss in the FIBA World Cup quarterfinals to Serbia.
The Lithuanian superstar was visibly disheartened after his national team’s elimination, as evident in his initial post-game statement.
“Nothing worked, neither the offense nor the defense. We struggled on offense, made mistakes in defense. Perhaps we were too soft, allowed them to score easy points. We shot ourselves in the foot.”
Jonas Valanciunas had nothing but praise for Svetislav Pesic’s team, who completely outplayed his national team.
“They played physically, really well. We were weak on offense, didn’t get back on defense, and they ran fast breaks after our mistakes, scoring a significant number of points.”
Serbia will play in the FIBA World Cup semifinals against the winner of the Canada-Slovenia matchup.
