Jonas Valanciunas, NBA player, joins the basketball club Wolves ownership group. Wolves will play in the EuroCup next season.
One of the club’s investors is now the 11-year NBA veteran who acquired shares in the basketball club Wolves through the “Basketball Holding Company.”
According to the official announcement, this partnership was solidified by signing an investment agreement on Thursday. With this move, Valanciunas joins a lineup of over 10 Lithuanian and international business figures who share a belief in the basketball club Wolves vision.
“I’m thrilled to witness the emergence of a Lithuanian club that embraces innovative approaches and unconventional strategies,” Valanciunas said. “The high goals set forth by the club’s leaders have genuinely impressed me, mirroring the ambitions found in NBA franchises. Basketball club Wolves competes in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and extends its presence internationally through participation in the EuroCup, widely considered the second-best European club competition.
The club has signed Djordje Gagic, Tre’Shawn Thurman, Rasheed Sulaimon, and Christian Mekowulu. The team’s main star is the former Real Madrid player, Jeffrey Taylor.
The upcoming season will see the team host its home games at the Avia Solutions Group Arena in Vilnius. This arena has a capacity around 10 000 visitors.
