The New York Knicks defeated their rivals ,the Philadelphia 76ers, in front of their inspired home fans by 111:104.
The guests started the game better. They very quickly gained a double-digit lead, but that lead melted away just as quickly. Philadelphia’s players would step up their game again in the meantime, and after the first 10 minutes at “The Garden,” the score was 35:24.
The turnaround came in the second quarter. First, the home team completely erased the lead, but before halftime, an exceptional 9:0 run followed, which likely gave the Knicks belief in winning. It’s worth noting that Joel Embiid got injured during this part of the game but continued playing clearly injured and with a bloody knee, which could be seen through his white leg warmers.
This was not the end of this terrific drama. Nick Nurse’s team again took a six point lead, but they could not carry over the energy that the Knicks had in the dying moments of the game.
Basket for basket was the norm in the last quarter of the game. But Josh Hart came up in the clutch and his net-ripping threes decided the winner of the first game.
For the New York Knicks, the standout players were mentioned as Hart and Jalen Brunson. Both of them scored 22 points each, with Hart also grabbing 13 rebounds. On the other side, it seemed like the home team developed a defensive scheme. Joel Embiid scored 29 points, and Tyrese Maxey scored 32. They allowed their superstars to deliver, while the rest were well guarded.
The next game between these two NBA teams will be played on April 23 at 1:30 AM.
