Karl-Anthony Towns, the star of the Dominican Republic, stated that he is ready for the matches in Group I of the FIBA World Cup, where his team will face Puerto Rico and Serbia.
In an interview with Filipino CNN, Towns expressed his readiness for both of these encounters:
“It doesn’t matter who we’re playing against, we need to be prepared,” emphasized the Minnesota center, adding:
“Now the fun begins; we’ve come to the World Cup to compete with the best, and in order to succeed at that, we must be the best version of ourselves.”

Towns also shared his impressions from the first match of the tournament, where he played in front of a record-breaking crowd of 38,115 spectators.
“It was electric, that’s the only word that can describe the atmosphere in the arena that day. I knew there would be a lot of people because it’s the World Cup, and since the Philippines were playing in front of their home crowd, the fans definitely didn’t disappoint,” explained the 27-year-old basketball player.
“When you’re playing in a country where the fans have such a deep connection to this sport, it’s not that surprising,” he continued.
“The game was really intense, but in the end, we managed to keep our composure in the crucial moments and secure the victory,” concluded Karl-Anthony Towns.
